Down a country road, surrounded by nature,
untouched by wifi and cell towers, you'll find The Barracks.

The Barracks are a multi-purpose, off-grid haven, with bunk rooms, a meeting room, and a front step overlooking an organic garden. It’s a place to be still and to learn, to hike, enjoy good food, build strong friendships, read great books, sit around the campfire - or maybe participate in an organized weekend workshop devoted to beautiful subjects such as tea, writing, homesteading, herbalism, reading, and creative pursuits of all kinds.
With no cell coverage or internet this space is a respite for those needing to disconnect from the constant connectivity and stress that too often fills our lives. The Barracks are situated on a working family farm, steeped in real things - like fresh air and sunshine, fellowship, feasting, meaningful work, conversation, icy cold spring water, and highland cows. Space is limited with three rooms accommodating about two guests in each, a bathroom, and our meeting room, which is located in the Cottage behind The Barracks.
It is our prayer that this space will be a peaceful spot to gather and discuss big ideas, reclaim purposeful manual work, kindle artistic dreams, and inspirit meaningful friendships.

1st Annual Art Initiative - April 2025
|
At times it seems that beauty is vanishing from our world, and many live as though it does not matter. But we believe beauty does matter, and offer the 1st Annual Art Initiative at The Barracks to celebrate beauty in all its forms. As a small way to reclaim beauty in our corner of the world, we offer this community event for artists of all ages to exhibit their art work reflecting the theme of PROMISE. We need artists of course, but we need viewers too! We invite everyone to come, enjoy the exhibit and share your thoughts. We'll update The Barracks vision and take part in song, liturgy, refreshments, and fellowship. Come one, come all! |
What is Art? the creative expression of goodness, truth, and beauty demonstrated through the written word, music, sculpture, painting, photography, film making, hand crafts and any additional way in which one may express these values.
|
What is Initiative? the power or opportunity to act or take charge before others do: an act or strategy intended to resolve a difficulty or improve a situation; a fresh approach to something.
